Most swimmers know about the importance of stretching and warming up their muscles before getting in the pool, however many don't know or fully understand the importance of stretching at the end of training when the body is much stiffer, there is lactic acid buildup in the muscle and pressure on the jointsHigh-level swimmers stretch for over an hour each day, both before and after the workout.

Last Saturday before Club Champs a group of County and Midland squad swimmers were invited to a workshop, kindly hosted by Claire Cross at the SpinRoom Studio. The workshop was designed to help them with their recovery and flexibility, both of which are very important to swimmers.

The swimmers got to learn about the skeleton and the different muscle groups, how they work, and why they are important. The group of 25 swimmers then did some team exercises to warm up their muscles before moving on to specific stretching exercises for the different muscle groups.

The workshop was very well received by the swimmers who then went on to achieve some fantastic times at Club Champs!

Many thanks to Claire for hosting the workshop, the swimmers really appreciated it and there was much positive feedback from the event.
