Congratulations to our seven junior swimmers Jemma Housego, Katie Rundle, Jake Jungmann, Bethany Eagle-Brown,William Kong, Holly Leggott and Callum Melville, (unfortunately Callum has broken his wrist he was unable to take part) on their selection to swim in this prestigious event for the County Team.

The Junior Inter-county Competition was swum on Sunday 18th September; it was hosted by Bedfordshire’s ASA in Luton.  This is a valuable competition and gives swimmers aged between 10 -13 years the opportunity to compete for their county in a long course pool. Our swimmers took on others from Leicestershire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Northants, Bedfordshire, & Essex and didn’t they do well!

Jemma Housego swam exceptionally well in the girls 11 years 50m Freestyle event against very strong opposition, she finished 2nd in a new county long course record (30.57). She managed to take over a second off her own 11 yrs girls Club Record in a time of 29.9 - Brilliant stuff!

Bethany Eagle-Brown swam exceptionally well in her 100m Freestyle shaving 0.4 second off her current time and beating her current Club Record. It was a very close race at the end and she had put up a tremendous fight for the team. Although she was just touch out into fourth place she gained valuable point and a new club record of 1.02.0! Congratulations on a job well-done!

Katie Rundle was delighted to see she had had been picked to swim two events for the county the girls 100m Breaststroke and 100m Butterfly. She gave two good solid performances taking over 3 seconds off her current long course PB in the 100m Breaststroke to finish in 7th place. She  finished 5th  in the 100m Butterfly  with a time  that was just outside her PB but both her swims were a great asset to the team in helping them finish 5th in the competition. Well Done!

Jake Jungmann was chosen to swim 100m Backstroke, an event he had only swam short course. But he gave it his best shot and gained valuable points for the team, he found himself a little bit off the pace this time out and finished in 8th place. It was a great effort for his first outing in a long course pool. Well Done!

William Kong & Holly Leggott on this occasion were picked for the relay teams which did very well. Congratulation on your county selection!

It was a fantastic venue and the balcony was packed with parents, grandparents and county presidents cheering on their teams which included boys and girls mixed relay teams. Lincolnshire finished in 5th place with 181 points.

Congratulations swimmers on your selection and for your great contribution to Lincolnshire Team!
