Deepings Swimming Club honoured its best swimmers at its Christmas Party, held at Northborough Village Hall on December 10th.

The awards were presented by head coach Sam Peeroo and assistant coach Alice Grant for swimmer of the year, individual squad star awards, newcomer, performance of the year and most improved swimmer.

Winner of the most improved swimmer was James Cash for a superb run at recent galas with repeated and substantial PBs (personal bests) and CQTs (county qualifying times).

Commended were Annabel Shepherd, Rosie Jones and Lottie Jenkinson.

Evie Davies was named best newcomer. She has just moved up to Competitive yet is giving that squad a run for their money in 50 free, gaining five golds and two silvers in her first ever meet.

Commendations went to Millie Edwards, Alice Pinney, Juan-Cayile Vercellotti and Eloïse Walker.

Performance of the year went to Oliver Clarke at the Fenland Meet. Oliver swam eight events, winning five golds and three silvers to be named top boy in his age group. He also achieved CQTs in six of the eight with PBs across the board.

Squad star awards went to:

  • Skills: Isaac Donaldson, for his training attendance, quietly determined focus in training and consequent progress in stamina and skills. Commendations: Kieran Richards, Leah Richards and Gus Dascanio.
  • Development: Rowan Smith for her positive attitude, whole-hearted engagement and lane-leading performance. Commendation: Matilda Knowles.
