Deepings Swimming Club was back in action this weekend at Spalding’s 32nd Tulip Meet. This is an open meet we have supported for the start, as it’s a meet our youngsters can gain racing experience. They also have the opportunity to bring home awards, as all six finalists are successful. I am pleased to report that all our swimmers swam well, with the majority coming away with Personal Best times.

Twelve year old Amy Tappern got the squad off to an excellent start in the first race, when she made the final of the 100m Freestyle. But from then on it was then quit a quiet first session from Deepings swimmers until our thirteen and fourteen year olds got in the water!

Thirteen year olds Bethany Eagle-Brown (1.11.54) & Holly Leggott (1.18.47) made the final of the 100m Butterfly in first and second place and that’s how it finished in the final both girls bringing home the two top awards. They repeated it again on the Sunday in the 100m Freestyle. Both girls swam brilliantly over the weekend but it was Holly Leggott that got top girls awards in the 13 years age group with Bethany in second spot overall - just brilliant girls!

Thirteen year olds Jake Jungmann wanted a piece of the action, he too made the final of the 100m Butterfly, finishing in third place in both the heats and the final.
