Deepings Swimming Club is looking to the future and is seeking a volunteer Assistant Coach to provide support to our Club Coach û Lynn Chapman. Both Lynn and your Chairman have developed the attached job description. Candidates should be aware that this is a voluntary position, although remuneration will be provided for attendance at Open Meets.   

Potential candidates are asked to apply to the Chairman in writing including a curriculum vitae and a covering personnel statement. The closing date for entries is 30thSeptember 2012.

The Candidate:

Ideally candidates should be in possession of a Level 2 Teacher and/or a Level 2 Coaching qualification or working towards a Level 2 Coaching award.

The Role:

À        Additional hours may be mutually agreed to cover training sessions in the event of absence(s) û including holidays etc. - of the Club Coach and/or junior coaches and/or swimming teachers.

À        Where the Assistant Coach is unable to attend training sessions/galas due to illness or for any other reason, it is the Assistant Coach's responsibility to arrange suitable cover in consultation with the Club Coach.

2.    The Assistant Coach will be required to attend certain Open Meets, Competitions and Club Galas as agreed with the Club Coach. These are likely to include the Fenland League Galas, County Championshipsand other competitions included on the Annual Competition Calendar.

3.    The Assistant Coach shall observe and comply with the ASA National Guidelines and Recommendations in every aspect of the swimming coaching rendered and follow, and promote the ASA Child Protection Policy and Code of Ethics.

4.    The Assistant Coach shall implement the DSC Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures, and shall report any breaches to the DSC Committee and the Club Coach. In the event of any serious breaches, the Assistant Coach shall bring this to the immediate attention of the Chairman of DSC, the Welfare Officer and the Club Coach in writing for appropriate consideration and action.

5.    The Assistant Coach will be required to obtain appropriate ASA/IOS Coaching qualifications within 12 months of being appointed. Assistance with funding of these qualifications can be sought from DSC.
