Alice Grant is appointed Deepings Swimming Club assistant coach

Deepings Swimming Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Alice Grant as its new assistant coach.

The club, which has been without an official assistant coach for the past four years, is now training at the Stamford Endowed Schools pools and is recruiting new members as it rebuilds following the Covid lockdowns and the closure of its home at Deepings Leisure Centre in 2021.

Alice is an experienced Masters swimmer who competes regularly and holds seven Lincolnshire Masters County Records, including 200m freestyle, 50m and 200m breaststroke, 50m and 100m butterfly, 200IM and 400IM. She has been a member of Deepings Swimming Club since the start of 2019.

Alice holds the Level 1 Teacher qualification and is currently undergoing her Level 1 Assistant Coach training.

Lynn Chapman, Deepings Swimming Club head coach, said: “Alice will be assisting myself and other coaches in all areas mainly focusing on the younger development squads but will be gaining experience coaching the older squads alongside me. She will be attending galas and open meets where possible.

“I am looking forward to having Alice on board. She will be a valuable asset to our coaching team.”

Speaking about her appointment, Alice said: “I’m thrilled to be the new assistant coach - it’s a brilliant opportunity to be part of the club on poolside as well as in the water with the Masters. I’ve got lots to learn (including everyone’s name!) but I’m very fortunate to be part of such a knowledgeable and experienced coaching team.

“I’m loving getting to know everyone in the different squads and I’m really excited to be able to help the club flourish after such a difficult couple of years.”
