The weekend of the 8th and 9th May was a true family occasion for 12 year old Zoe Fisher, when she traveled to Bury Leisure Centre to compete in West Suffolk swimming clubs annual Spring Open Meet of which her cousin is a member. The club welcomed over 400 swimmers from 29 clubs across the eastern region and they kindly took her under their wing as she was the only representative from Deepings swimming club this year.
Zoe gave some stunning performances particularly in the 50m Butterfly were she got off to an excellent start, in a close fought competition Zoe held her form and dug deep to clinch the bronze medal in her age group and set a personal best time. She also had a tremendous swim in the heats of the girls 50m Freestyle, were she produced her fastest ever 50m swim by over two seconds. Sadly she was just fingertips away from her second bronze medal - by just 0.4 of a second. The swim, however, does make her the fastest 12 year old girl in our club at the moment. She also went on to produce her 3rd PB in the 12 year old girls individual Medley … so well done Zoe!
