What a fantastic May Day Bank Holiday weekend Deepings swimmers had at this years 25th Tulip Meet held at South Lincs Swimming Club, winning a large number of trophies and setting at least 80 personal best times. The atmosphere around the pool was electric as both Spectators and competitors contributed to making it a great success.
Deepings swimmers rose to the occasion by producing some first-rate performances & times. Some swimmers also had the confidence to try new distances for the very first time.
First we must Congratulations our two age group winners Laura Swain (100m Breaststroke) and Samara McKnight (100mBufferfly) who both won events in 14 years age group.
Laura had an excellent weekend dipping under 1.22.00 for the very first time to win the final of the 100m Breaststroke. She made the finals of the 100m Freestyle where she finished in 2nd place and was 6th in the 100m IM producing PBs in all these events.
Samara gave a terrific performance in the heats and the final of her butterfly event taking a staggering 5 seconds off her current time to win her age group in a time of 1.14.78. During the course of the weekend she also made the final in both 100m Backstroke & Breaststroke where she finished in 5th place both times.
In the individual rankings Laura was our highest place swimming finishing in 2nd place in the 14 years age group. Samara and Grace Lamsdale finished joint 3rd in the same age group which is an incredible performance by our three 14 year old girl’s team.

Sadly, just missing out on awards by finishing in 7th place was Bethany Neal, Eleanor Templer, Adam Bolster, Isabel Swain, Aisling Ruff, Andrew Noble, Chris Barrett & Emma Watts - hopefully next time! Luckily some of the swimmers that also finished in 7th place did pick up at least one award during the weekend.
I would like to particularly praise Hendriene Jones (100m Br) & Andrew Noble (100m Fly) on their first attempt at these distances - you swam extremely well!
