19 Midland times were achieved by Chris Pithey (1), Dom Gray (1), Daniel Luff (1), Adam Brooker (1), Tom Lane (3), Marcus Cook (4),

            Chris Barrett (2), Angleina Lim (2), Connie Stygall (1), Laura Ballaam (2) & Chiara Leadbeater (1).

Round up of the day:-

Chris Pithey had a fantastic championships by officially becomes the clubs fastest 50m Freestyle swimmer in a time of 24.89, just 0.02 faster than Dom Gray’s previous time. (Dom took the title from Alex Thurston in Oct 2006). Chris has also achieved a New Linc. County Age Group (19+) and Masters Records (subject to ratification). Hopefully this will boost his confidence and will encourage him to turn his sights to achieving that long course NQT, which I believe he is more that capable of achieving this year. Congratulations!

Angelina Lim representing Deepings this year for the first time at Lincs County Champs wins both the 50m Breaststroke and 200m Freestyle in her age groups. .

Marcus Cook is truly back on form after breaking his wrist, on Saturday he achieved four new MQTs and is chasing this years tough NQTs, I’m pleased to say they are in his sights. Marcus was our only National qualifier last year; keep up the good work and congratulations!

Connie Stygall Age Group Champion in the 50m Breaststroke for a fourth year. Congratulations! (Fingers crossed for a MQT in the 100m next weekend)

Tom Lane representing Deeping for the first time at these championships, after joining us last July became the 200m Butterfly 15 years Age Group Champion and finished 4th in the open event. He achieved three more new MQTs, giving him a total of 6 MQT at these championships - Congratulations!

Laura Ballaam had an outstanding swim in the 200m Butterfly event taking over 8 seconds off her current PB to become the 13 years 200m Butterfly Age Group Champion, she finished second to Angleina in the open event. Her swim means she is now only two seconds away from a NQT.  In the 200m Freestyle she finished 2nd and achieved her second MQT. Congratulations.

Thomas Ballaam wasn’t going to be out done by his sister; he had an excellent swim in the 50m Breaststroke event to become his age groups Champion in a new personal best time. Thomas has been swimming extremely well since joining the club last June. He is currently lying in 3rd place in the BAGCAT awards with 1507 points. Well Done!

Lauren Wray I understand performed exceptionally well in the skins competition (unfortunately the rounds have not been published), she became her age groups 50m Freestyle Champion in a new personal best time. She also finished 3rd in the open event which is an amazing achievement, sadly there is no 50m Freestyle in her age group at the Midlands. I’m sure she will be a force to be reckoned with next year; Lauren has already gone faster than the qualifying time in the age group above. During the day she finished 2nd in both the 400m IM & 200m Freestyle in her age group. Congratulations

19 more MQTs were achieved making a total of 47 MQT to date at these Championships. Far more than last year, our swimmers at this stage last year had 29 MQT!

Times - 63 PBs achieved by our swimmers - giving them a running total of 155 PBs a little bit down on last year (167 last year) but we have one day to go.

To date we have 18 Age Group Champions (8 more than last year) & 2 Open Champions.

Another excellent assortment of top 3 placing were achieved on Saturday - 28 in total!

Some Swimmers take big chunks off the current PBs (see results). I’ve tried to reports approx improvements for each swimmer that achieved a PB on Saturday. I can’t mention everyone but I would like to highlight a few:- Kieran Gabbitus 200m Fly (13 sec), Chris Barrett 400m IM (15 sec.), Oliver Perkins 200m Fly (14 sec.), Shannon Ruff 200m F/C (7 sec.) & 400m IM (6sec.), Chiara Leadbeater 400m IM (9+ sec.), Samara McKnight 400m IM (11+ sec.), Grace Lamsdale 200m F/C (5 sec), Laura Ballaam 200m Fly (8+ sec) , Jordan Templer 200m F/C (5sec.) Congratulations to everyone that achieved a PB!

County Age Group & Masters Record Claims are being submitted for Chris Pithey 50m Freestyle.

All our swimmers performed extremely well across the board.
