Marcus Cook - Wins 2 Golds & 1 Silver & Sets a New Club Record in the 100m Butterfly!
Lauren Wray - Wins Gold, 3 Silver & 2 Bronze & Sets a New Club Record in the 200m IM!
Laura Swain - Wins 1 Gold
Deepings Swimmers went on to achieve: 42 New County Qualifying Times,
51 New Long Course PBs & 13 Converted PBs.
A group of Deepings swimmers travelled to South Yorkshire’s premier swimming venue, Ponds Forge, Sheffield for a weekend of hard competition in the popular Sherwood Colliery Swimming Club’s Robin Hood Open Meet The gala attracts entries from as far apart as the Isle of Man, South Wales and Southampton. Once again it was extremely successful open meet for the Deepings swimmers, and in particular our three age group winners -
Laura Swain showed her class in the Breaststroke event by taking gold in the 50m in her age group.
Marcus Cook in excellent form took gold in the 200m IM and 200m Breaststroke and managed to secure a silver medal in the 100m Butterfly which was a new club record.
Lauren Wray successfully took Bronze in her first event the 200m IM which was a new club record. She went on to take gold in the 200m Freestyle and achieved three Silver medals in the 200m Backstroke, 100m Fly & 50m Fly event to finish off her competition.
All our swimmers were on superb form in Sheffield as they set another 39 County Qualifying Times from our youngest swimmer 10 year old Andrew Noble, right through the following age groups 11 year old Alex Wray, 12 year old Olivia Conway, 13 year old Kelda Mcknight, Chris Barrett, Marcus Cook, Elisha Penman, Jordan Templer, Emma Catterall, 14 yrs Lauren Wray, Laura Swain & Emma Watts - Congratulations!
It was lovely to see Oliver Perkins back in action after his injury and posting some really good long course PBs, which means he is still in good shape.
There were brilliant long course times also achieved by Grace Lamsdale & Samara Mcknight as well. Well Done!
It was also lovely to see swimmers brave enough to enter long course events for the very first time, swimmers like Andrew Noble, Emma Catterall, Olivia Conway & Samara Mcknight who reaped their rewards by obtaining new PBs. Well Done!
