I am thrilled to report that Chris Pithey is off to Liverpool in July to swim at the British Championships. He hit the 50m Butterfly National Qualifying Time right on the nose! He touched the pad in a winning time of 27.00 just 0.8 inside the qualifying time, to gain he first ever National time and achieved a New Lincolnshire County 19+ Age Group Record & a New Masters Record at the same time!
Chris has been swimming brilliantly all year and has been fingertips away from achieving that qualifying time on a few occasions. I understand it wasn’t all plain sailing though, as he had a bit of a mishap with his card and nearly didn’t swim the event! Luckily for him, there was room in the first heat and they allowed him to swim with the younger swimmers. Not something that should be repeated in the future, but I’m sure he has learnt his lesson!
Chris seems to have been concentrates more on the sprint events, since being at university and I’m so pleased he has because he now has his 1st National Qualifying Time!
Congratulations Chris!
