Congratulations to Millie Catherall and Sophie Leggott on their selection onto the National Talent Camp for 2016-17. Millie has been selected as a young coach and Sophie has been selected as a young official. Well done to both girls.

What is the National Talent Camp?

The National Talent Camp is a four day residential developed and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust in partnership with Loughborough University, and funded by Sport England. The camp offers the opportunity for 350 young athletes, coaches and officials to come together as part of a unique experience.

The camp takes place from the 16 – 19 December 2016 and will offer young coaches, officials and athletes the opportunity to challenge themselves and learn what it takes to be the best. The National Talent Camp is a globally unique event in that it not only tests and challenges the attendees in an intense multi-sport environment, but it is multi-disciplinary with athletes, coaches and officials sharing the experience and developing in the same environment.

The National Talent Camp will be followed by a 12 month development programme delivered by the ASA specifically for ASA successful candidates.

Who is involved?

The 350 young people will be selected by their National Governing Body, and will be representative of 10 different sports:

Aquatics, Baseball/Softball, Basketball, Boccia, Cycling, Football, Gymnastics, Tennis,Volleyball and Wheelchair Basketball

The ASA were looking for 15 young swimming, diving or water polo coaches, and eight young swimming officials for the aquatic open applications.
