Tom Freeman wins Two Bronze Medals & Produced his First MQT of The Year!
Overall 2 Bronze Medals, 1 MQT & 2 PBs
Three of our senior swimmers were in action last Saturday at Hatfield’s Valentines Meet, held at the Hertfordshire Sports Village based at the University in Hatfield. I can proudly say all three lads had a successful and enjoyable day. This open meet gave the boys a benchmark before the forthcoming County Champs.
Although all three lads performed well it was Tom Freeman’s 200m IM swim that was the highlight of his competition! He produced his first MQT of the year and picked up his 2nd Bronze Medal. Tom’s first medal came in the heats of the 100m Breaststroke where he managed to touch in 3rd place, just fingertips in front of Tom Lane who finished in 4th placed in the same age group. In the heats of the 100m Butterfly Tom Freeman not only produced an excellent 100m time he also PBd at 50m too. Congratulations!
Luke DeMoya in the 50m Freestyle & Tom Lane in the 100m Breaststroke came very close to medalling themselves but was both touched into 4th place. Both lads have already qualified for the Midland Championships but I’m pleased to say at Hatfield they both demonstrated they were still on top form and swimming well within these Midlands Qualifying Times, which is excellent news going into the Counties.
All this looks very promising for the rest of the season & we wish the boys all the very best at the Counties!
