New Club Records for Nine Year Olds William Swain & Jack Booth
16 PB’s & 7 CQT’s
A small team of Deepings youngsters were in action at Boston’s Geoff Moulder Memorial Trophy Gala on Saturday. This competition gives youngsters the chance to experience a 200m competitive event - which can be quite demanding and a bit scary if you’ve not swum one before. We treat this gala as a development gala and gala to build confidence. This is an opportunity for swimmer to try new distances, to improve on their PBs and achieve County times.

Once again, for the 9th year on the trot, Boston’s ‘A’ team won the gala convincingly, but our swimmers took on the challenge and put on a tremendous performance to finish in 5th place. I’m delighted to say 16 of our swimmers set Personal Best Times and a few gained County Qualifying Times - 7 in total - and two swimmers achieved new club records ... brilliant news!
I need to praise our 9 year old swimmers William Swain (200m Free) & Jack Booth (200m IM) both set New Club Records and along with Niamh Warrington - who all finished 2nd in their events gaining valuable points for the team & PBs. Niamh and William also gained New CQTs too. 9 year old Dominic Smith swam well in his first ever 200m Breaststroke finishing 4th place in a time not far off a CQT.
Our Congratulations to our winner 11 year old Zoe Fisher who swam exceptionally well in the 200m Butterfly to win her event by taking over 6 seconds of the time she set at our open meet in October. This improves on her the rankings considerably and we still have club championships to come.
Congratulations to all those swimmers that gained PBs & CQTs you were all fantastic – it’s not always about the winning but the taking part and doing your best and all our swimmers certainly did that!
