Well done Swimmers – 1st place. What a good start to the new Fenland year. There were 16 1st places, an amazing 33 pbs and even more an incredible 17 cut-off times. I don’t think we’ve ever had that many.
Notable Pbs came from James Roberts who had two extremely good swims knocking 6 secs off his IM time and 8 secs off his f/s and going straight through the cut off times. Well done James – 2 great swims. Georgia Brownsword also knocked 6 secs off her IM – a good performance, Georgia. Jack Booth took 6 secs off his Fly time – your fly is looking good Jack. William Shaw also had a good swim knocking 5 secs off his backstroke. I think you had little motors in those arms William – they moved so fast!!! !Dom Smith took 4secs off his breaststroke and 3 off his f/s and Berri took 3 secs off both her swims. Oliver Baldry and Shelby Culff both took 3 secs each off their IMs.
Those going through cut-off times were James Roberts (2), Shelby Culff (2), Phoebe and Chiara Leadbeater (2each), Jack Booth (2), Georgia, Niamh, William Swain, James and Andrew Noble, Oliver and Alex all one each. We have to say goodbye now to Alex as he has now got too fast for this league. So well done to him and thank you for your contribution.
We had a couple of swimmers who were a bit too quick off the block. I know you’re keen but please remember to listen to the starter and keep still until the signal goes. It was a shame as you would have won your races.
Lastly I would like to welcome our new swimmers – the 2 Williams you both swam very well last night and hope you enjoyed the gala.
Many thanks to the poolside helpers and officials who came last night. Without your help these galas wouldn’t be possible so anyone wlse who can spare a bit of time please get in touch. Thank you. The next round is on 24 April at Cambridge, so please note it in your diaries. Pre-selection will go up about a month before. Once again,
