A Lincs County New Age Record for Dom Gray, when he swam to victory in the 50m Breaststroke event to becomes the Open and Age Group Champions!

Dom Gray broke his own 50m Breaststroke County Age Group Record which he set last year. He had a close fought race in the final heat of the 50m Breaststroke but managed to just touch out the Lincoln Vulcan swimmer to win the open event in a time of 32.13. He shaved just 0.01 off his current (19+) Record (subject to ratification). Dom also had an a brilliant swim in the heats of the 50m Freestyle where he came very close to breaking Chris Pithey’s record which he set at last years these championships. I’m sure the time will be very close to a short course National time but we need the times to be published to be sure. Hopefully this will boost his confidence and will encourage him to turn his sights to achieving these sorts of times long course at the Midlands and hopefully gain a NQT, which I believe he is more that capable of achieving this year. Congratulations Dom!
9 year old Jordan Bull had a wonderful swim too in the 50m Breaststroke to finish in a time of 46.08 which was a New Linc. County Age Group Record (9yrs) (subject to ratification). What a prospect he is, Jordan competing in his first major Championships and setting a new record at his first attempt in the 50m Breaststroke. Last week in his age group he won the 200m Breaststroke and had the county record in his sights but sadly he just missed it by a small margin, better luck next time. He is currently in 2nd place in the 9yrs BADCATs awards. Congratulations!
Tom Lane had an excellent day, he picking up two medals for his swims in the 50m Freestyle & 100m Backstroke events. He made the final of the 100m Backstroke and just missed out on a MQT in that event by just 0.01 but he did go on to achieve two Midland Qualifying Times during the day. Congratulations!
Laura Ballaam had another outstanding swim in the 200m Butterfly to become the 14 years Age Group Champion, a title she also won last year at 13 yrs.
Her swim means she now has a Midland Qualifying Time. Congratulations.
Thomas Ballaam had an excellent swim in the 50m Breaststroke event to become his age groups Champion for the second year running, setting another new personal best time. During the course of the day he went on to PB three other events 200m Free, 50m Free & 100m Backstroke He is currently lying in 2nd place in the BAGCAT awards with 2301 points, which is one place higher than last year at this stage and he has 794 more points too, excellent news Well Done!
Daniel Luff in the 50m Freestyle he managed clock a time of 26.71 which is a time he obviously likes as he swam the exact same time at the Counties last year, which takes some doing, (what’s the odds of him doing it again next year?) I’m pleased to say it was also a Midland Qualifying time too. He also PBd in his 50m Breaststroke event. Well Done!
7 more MQTs were achieved making a total of 25 MQT to date at these Championships. A few down on last year at this stage but then we had a couple of key swimmers away that would have boosted these figures.
Times - 65 PBs achieved by our swimmers - giving them a running total of 160 PBs which is much better than last year (155 last year) with one more day to go, its looking good!
To date we have 13 Age Group Champions & 2 Open Champions.
2 County Records
18 assortment of top 3 placing were achieved on Saturday - 82 in total to date!
