Lincolnshire Counties Champs 800m Long Distance Results

Fantastic Start for Deepings Swimmers at the Counties!
All Seven Swimmers Achieve a Personal Best Time!
Lauren Wray - 1 race but qualifies for both 800m & 400m at the Midlands
Marcus Cook & Chris Barrett both qualify for the Midlands too!
In Total 4 MQT & 10 PBs were achieved on the day!
It was smiles all the way for the Seven Deepings swimmers that competed at Grantham on Saturday in the 800m long distance event. Each swimmer performed tremendously well, and personal best times went tumbling down - they ranged from 2 seconds right through to a 23 second PB done by Chris Barrett!
Lauren Wray had a fantastic day; she skilfully achieved two MQT in the same event - the 800m and 400m freestyle event. She produced a 2 second PB to finish 2nd in her age group, her time if accepted would have been 3 seconds inside the NQT time but sadly to qualify for the Nationals you have to swim this distance long course, which she is more than capable of achieving, like last year. This was an outstanding start to the county championships, Congratulations!
Marcus Cook I’m pleased to say is producing some incredible PBs again and at various distances. In the 800m he expertly achieved another MQT by producing a 17 seconds PB, this time when concerted is actually 20 seconds inside the national qualifying time but sadly like Lauren, Marcus needs to do it long course but it goes to show the quality of his swimming. He finished in second place which was one place higher than last year. An Exceptional Swim, well done!
Jordan Templer & Elisha Penman were our youngest swimmers to compete and they both had to two marvellous swims.
Jordan has made excellent progress since he joined Deeping two years ago. This was his first attempt at swimming a long distant event in a major championships and he did remarkably well. He first qualified to swim the 800m at our Club Champs back in September and on Saturday, in the 800m he knocked over 14 seconds off his current PB to finish 7th in his age group. A Marvellous First Attempt!
Elisha swam this event for the very first time last year at the County Champs and since then she has been making steady progress, learning to swim this event both long and short course with some success and managed to achieve a MQT last year. Although not a Midland time on this occasion she took a staggering 15 seconds off her current PB and was placed 4th in her age group, which was higher than last year. It is still early days but I’m sure she is capable of achieving another MQT this year. Two Excellent Performances!
Chris Barrett dipped under 10 minuets for the very first time in his 800m event on Saturday, after producing a whooping 23 second PB, which gained him his MQT too. Swimming this event for the second time at Counties Chris swam incredibly well to retain his 3rd place, which he secured last year. This is an excellent start to the championships, Wonderful swim!
Samara McKnight was attempting the 800m event at the county champs for the very first time and it was a marvellous achievement to finish 5th in her age group. Samara has been making steady progress at the 800m event, which is the distance she seems to have concentrated on. She seems to be growing in confidents each time she swims it, if fact on this occasion she also manage to produce a 400m PB too. Great swim Samara!
Grace Lamsdale was swimming this event for the very first time at counties too, after achieving a qualifying time during her 1500m swim at club champs, which was a remarkable achievement in its self. She produced an excellent swim taking over 9 seconds of her current PB and produced a 400m PB too; she went on to finish in 8th place in her age group. A Splendid First Attempt!
