The club would like to congratulate Chris on his achievements this year and on the fact he qualified for the British Championships in Liverpool. It’s been a long time since a Deepings swimmer qualified for such a competition. Although it can be quite daunting swimming against top international swimmers, Chris appears to have kept his cool & swam extremely very in an unfamiliar pool, as his time was just outside his county record.
Many of our Olympic swimmers were in action in Liverpool over the weekend using it for their final preparation ahead of the Beijing Games before they embark on their Olympic journey at the end of the month. I understand the meet provided GB swimmers a final chance to check their progression before starting on their taper in readiness for the Games. I hope this has highlights just how well Chris has performed this year and hopefully the club will have many more swimmers wanting to aspire to this level.
