A Magnificent Start to 2010
Club Records Tumble - mostly to our 9 year olds
18 Age Group Winners, 42 CQT’s, 75 PB’s and a
Total of 67 Awards Won
Deepings swimming team braved the wintry conditions both outside and inside the pool! The temperature in the pool meant that personal best times & County Qualifying Times were at a premium. Emma Watts & Oliver Perkins got the team off to a flying start by winning the first two events the Girls 14 yrs 200m Backstroke & 15/O Boys 200m IM.
Our 9 year olds were very successful Niamh Warrington won both the Girls 100m Breaststroke & Freestyle. She took Four Club Records, 50m Fly, 100m Breaststroke, 100m Freestyle & 100m IM, Phoebe Leadbeater won the 100m Backstroke. 2nd & 3rd place awards were won by Jack Booth (50m Bk & 50m F/C) & Bailie Harrison (200m Br) Niamh Warrington (100m IM & 50m Fly). Jack Booth also broke the boys 50m Freestyle Record too!
10 year old Andrew Noble was also in sparkling form, he finished 2nd in 7 events (200m Breaststroke,200m Freestyle, 100m & 200m IM, 50m Fly, 200m Backstroke & 50m Freestyle), what a weekend for this young man!
11 year old Zoe Fisher had an excellent weekend too, she won her age groups 50m &100m Fly events and broke the girls100m Fly Record! She came 2nd in 100m IM & was 3rd in the 50m,100m & 200m Backstroke, 50m & 100m Freestyle.
What a prospect 12 year old Benjamin Woolf is winning the 100m & 200m IM, 2nd in the 200m Freestyle & 50m Fly & 3rd 100m Backstroke. Chiara Leadbeater finished 3rd in the 100m Backstroke & Olivia Conway finished 3rd in the 400m Freestyle.
Our 13 year olds were also shining. Kelda Mcknight took gold in the 100m Backstroke & 200m Freestyle. Elisha Penman also took gold in the 100m Freestyle & 2nd in 200m Breaststroke & 100m IM. It was two silver awards for Chris Barrett in the 400m Freestyle &100 Fly. Callum Clark took silver in the 50m Backstroke & Patrick O’hanlon took bronze in the 50m Backstroke Freestyle, Breaststroke & Fly, 100m Freestyle & IM. Kayleigh Rutterford also took bronze in the girls 200m IM
The 14 year olds continued the team’s success when Adam Bolster finished 3rd in the 200m Breaststroke and Emma Watts continued her success by winning the girls 200m Freestyle in style! She also finished 2nd in both the 100m Backstroke & Freestyle events.
Our three senior swimmers also showed they too were on top form Oliver Perkins won three events - the 400m Freestyle, 100m & 200m Backstroke but also picked up awards in the 50m Backstroke & Fly, 200m Freestyle. Laura Colledge finished 2nd in the 200m Backstroke & Samara Mcknight touched 2nd in the 200m Breaststroke & took 3rd in the 100m Fly.
There were some great swims all round with some whopping PBs being achieved too, sorry there are too many to mention them all. I would however like to mention a few:–
- Ben Woolf (34 sec) 200m IM,
- Ben Rockcliffe 400m Freestyle (21 sec),
- Georgia Brownsword 200m Backstroke (13 sec) 400m Freestyle (20 sec),
- Andrew Noble 200m Freestyle & Breaststroke (8 sec),
- Megan Thompson 100m Freestyle (5 sec),
- Shelby Culff 400m Freestyle (17 sec),
- Kelda McKnight 400m (5 sec) &
- Emma Watts 400m Freestyle (12 sec)
